Your support

Royal Armouries is the UK’s national museum of arms and armour. We hold in trust for the nation one of the most significant and most comprehensive collections ever assembled – a treasure of international importance which belongs to all of us.

We want to inspire generations to discover and understand how arms and armour have shaped the most compelling narratives of human endeavour and experience.

COVID-19 Update

Royal Armouries is a charity. As well as government funding, we rely on the income we receive from ticket purchases, retail sales and purchases in our cafes and restaurants for our museums and major events to continue bringing history to life.

Our work as guardian of the national collection of arms and armour continues, even without these streams of income, therefore we will be more reliant on charitable donations and philanthropic funding for the foreseeable future. If you would like to support us please make a donation.

Donate

DONATERoyal Armouries is a charity and relies on your support. Every £1 donated is invested back into the museum, so that you can play your part in caring for the national collection and keeping it free for future generations to enjoy.

You can donate easily through the National Funding Scheme platform or by clicking on the DONATE button.

Education and Literacy

Our vision is that every child will be able to access our museum learning experiences regardless of socio-economic background. As part of this vision, Royal Armouries is working hard to address a local need – improving literacy attainment levels in KS2 pupils in Leeds. We are keenly aware that the prolonged absence from school due to the COVID-19 pandemic will make the learning gap for some children who are already falling behind even greater. That’s why we are committed to continuing the development of our literacy programme, Mightier than the Sword.

We are bringing the magic of the museum and our education work to children in their homes via digital resources until we can welcome children back to the museum. We want to help parents, carers and teachers to support their children’s learning at home, which is why we’re publishing a suite of curriculum-based learning videos and activities on our Home Learning Hub.

Education is at the core of our fundraising focus at the moment. We need your support so that we can develop our online resources at this difficult time, and then as soon as we are able and schools are open, we can provide Mightier than the Sword to disadvantaged children who are least likely to be able to access opportunities to learn outside the classroom.

Any gift will help us to reach out to the communities who need our help the most to deliver our pioneering education programmes. If you would like to support us please donate.
